When to refer, what I treat, and how to work together.
What I Actually Do
I teach non hormonal fertility tracking, the real kind, not just "download an app." Clients come to me wanting to understand their cycles, whether they're trying to avoid pregnancy, trying to conceive, or just trying to make sense of what their body is doing.
When to Refer to Me
- Client wants off hormonal birth control but has no plan for tracking fertility without it
- Client is postpartum or coming off birth control and their cycle feels unpredictable
- Client wants to conceive, or avoid pregnancy, using a natural, non hormonal method
- Client is only getting "just use an app" advice and needs real symptothermal charting instruction
- Client is entering perimenopause and wants to understand what their body is doing
- Client or their teen needs shame-free education on cycles, puberty, or reproductive health
- Client has had a miscarriage and could use support navigating hormonal recovery
What a Referral Conversation Sounds Like
"I'd refer you to Emma Goff, The Cyclical Doula. She specializes in non hormonal fertility tracking, for alternatives to hormonal birth control or achieving pregnancy, and can walk you through it one-on-one."
What NOT to Refer to Me For
- Client needs a medical diagnosis, prescription, or treatment
- Client is pursuing IVF, IUI, or other fertility treatments where charting wouldn't be helpful to them
How We Work Together
I work well alongside postpartum doulas, birth doulas, midwives, GYNs, pelvic floor PTs, lactation consultants, and perinatal therapists, really anyone whose clients start asking cycle or fertility questions. A quick heads-up on what the client is trying to do (avoid, conceive, or just understand their cycle) and any relevant context, like a recent birth or loss, goes a long way.
