ASK AN EASTERN MEDICINE DOCTOR

When to refer, what I treat, and how to work together.

What I Actually Do

Stephanie runs Root & Branch Wellness, functional medicine and acupuncture for cycle issues, PCOS, perimenopause, fertility and pregnancy loss support, labor prep, gut and fatigue complaints, and the patients who've been through every workup with no answers. She works as an extension of a patient's existing care team, not a replacement, and wants labs and notes in hand before she starts.

When to Refer to Me

Refer to Root & Branch Wellness for irregular or heavy cycles, PMS/PMDD, PCOS, perimenopause and menopause symptoms, fertility support (including recurrent early pregnancy loss and IUI/IVF support), pain during pregnancy or postpartum, labor preparation acupuncture in the final weeks, chronic bloating or GI dysbiosis, unexplained fatigue or brain fog, and musculoskeletal pain or sports injuries. Also a good fit for patients who've had extensive workups with no clear answers and want a root-cause, whole-person approach alongside their existing care team.

What a Referral Conversation Sounds Like

I'd like to refer you to Root & Branch Wellness for acupuncture and functional medicine care that works alongside what we're doing here.

What NOT to Refer to Me For

I'd like to refer you to Root & Branch Wellness for acupuncture and functional medicine care that works alongside what we're doing here.

How We Work Together

I work as an extension of a patient's existing care team rather than in place of it. Once referred, I typically request any relevant labs, imaging, or diagnoses the patient already has (including OB or RE notes for fertility and pregnancy cases) so treatment is coordinated rather than duplicated. I'm happy to communicate directly with referring providers as needed, whether that's a quick note on a patient's plan or ongoing updates for shared cases. I collaborate especially well with OBs, reproductive endocrinologists, primary care physicians, pelvic floor physical therapists, registered dietitians, and doulas and birth workers, since our approaches tend to complement each other well across women's health, fertility, and pregnancy/postpartum care.

We offer telehealth services for functional medicine and herbal consultations and also offer pain management in the office.
